Camp Greilick - The Classic Northern Camp Setting
Nestled between three crystal-clear, jewel-like lakes on the sandy-bottomed forest land, Camp Greilick will carry you back to a time when this world was newly discovered. The camp's roots are deeply
intertwined in forests of mixed oak, maple and pine.
Follow trails and pathways worn by the countless campers that have gone before; past a campfire site, down by the lake, into the woods.
Location
Camp Greilick is over 512 acres of beautiful terrain and is situated between Spider, Bass and Rennie Lakes, in the heart of the Grand Traverse region of Northern Michigan, just minutes from Traverse City.
The Grand Traverse region is an area unmatched in its diverse landscape, and alive with special events in every season of the year. Enjoy skiing, boating, major sporting events, or the solitude of the lakes and
rivers. Treat your group to area activities. (MapQuest)
Facilities
Superimposed on the setting's natural beauty are the elements that make everything accessible: modern
facilities designed to accommodate groups of as few as 6 or as many as 120 people.
Modern cabins (6) with complete kitchens, full bathrooms, electricity, and wood heat allow for all-season
use. Each cabin will house up to 20 campers and are accessible to the handicapped. You will need to bring
cooking and eating supplies, personal sleeping gear, and cleaning supplies for cabin cleanup prior to
your departure.
The camp offers 6 rustic adirondack shelters. Each shelter has an indoor wood stove and sleeps 8 people
in bunk beds. An outdoor latrine is located nearby. Groups using the shelters in the winter months must
carry in their own water supply. You must replenish the wood you use from the wood pile during your stay.
Please bring tools to cut firewood. These shelters are located in the woods, please be prepared to
backpack your gear into the shelters. The road leading to the adirondack shelters is not plowed during
the winter months. This is an ideal location for groups working on the polar bear patch.
The camp is dotted with remote tent campsites for those searching for an in-the-woods experience,
guaranteed to carry away the memory of pavement. Add to the picture Bass, Rennie and Spider Lakes ready
for any water sports you care to organize including swimming, canoeing, or fishing. Call for availability
of tent sites. You will need to bring your own tents and firewood.
The camp is laced with wonderful trails for hiking, jogging, or skiing and is flexible enough to offer a
complete practice field for football camps! Access to the camp and parking facilities are paved. There
are also canoes available for rent. This includes oars and
lifejackets.
Note: As in the past, we are offering reservation information to all groups and units who have used our facilities in the past year before we accept reservations from any new groups.
Besser Lodge
Groups desiring a central gathering place will enjoy the majestic Besser Lodge, a striking all-purpose
building complete with full kitchen. The lodge can function as the center of a group's activities, or as
a general meeting and dining place.
Activities
Canoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, and color tours are but a few of the activities within your
reach while staying at Camp Greilick. Camp Greilick offers a plethora of both winter and spring
activities: In the summer the camp offers hiking, camping, swimming, canoeing, fishing, running and
jogging, and a large field suitable for football, band camp, and other activities that require a large
open area. In the winter, the hiking trails serve as cross country ski trails; several cross country and
downhill ski areas are also located nearby. Camp Greilick also offers snowshoeing, ice fishing, and of
course camping in the winter.
